· NSW State Emergency Service
NSW SES says storms may move towards Sydney on Sunday afternoon and continue overnight into Monday, with damaging winds, large hail, heavy rain and flash flooding possible. Before storms arrive, secure loose outdoor items, move vehicles under cover where possible and clear gutters if safe. If travelling or planning outdoor activities, monitor official warnings and be ready to change plans. Never drive, ride or walk through floodwater; check Live Traffic and set a watch zone in Hazards Near Me. Checked 8 November 2026.
· Transport for NSW
TfNSW warns that industrial action from 4 November may delay or cancel some buses in the Eastern Suburbs, Northern Beaches, lower North Shore and inner north-west, including some CBD services. Buses are expected to keep running; this is not a network-wide shutdown. The linked official alert remained ongoing when checked on 8 November. Before leaving, check your own route in Trip Planner or Opal Travel, allow extra time and check the return trip separately. Trains, ferries and light rail may also be busier. Original notice: 3 November 2026.
· NSW Government
From 15 and 22 November, 3,000 weekly bus services will be added across NSW. Sydney changes include 24/7 routes 343 and 370, overnight route 418, more Greater Western Sydney and Inner West services, and added peak trips on route 526. Check Trip Planner before travelling.
If you commute between Strathfield, Rhodes and Wentworth Point, check route 526 for your actual shift time. For a late return via Burwood, compare route 418 on the relevant Friday or Saturday. Search the return journey separately: an extra outbound bus does not guarantee a useful connection home. The announced changes start on 15 and 22 November; do not assume the new timetable applies today.

Compare living costsStart with the Chatswood worked example: include bills and travel before choosing a room. The figures are illustrative assumptions, not rental listings.

Keep the first day close, leave space for luggage and choose a plan you can shorten.
Separate nights from days, people from rooms, and the trip total from money still to pay.
Compare the train fare for everyone, the taxi cost and an Uber app quote for the same trip.
Count the outdoor approach, leave room for a meal and avoid assuming a museum takes suitcases.
Keep the outward and return walks together, and give a harbour visit enough time for a real pause.
Treat travel caps as limits for eligible fares, and keep airport access fees and payment methods separate.
Founded by Michael Song, a Sydney resident since 1991. We focus on the decisions that shape a real visit: how far to walk, what the group will spend, and what to change when the day changes.
Official facts have a check date. Planning estimates stay labelled. A clear assumption is more useful than an impressive-looking number without a source.
Start with the area where you are staying, then choose one main outing and a nearby meal. Check the return journey before adding another stop; the cost tools help compare your own budget choices.
