The idea
Follow the changing edge of the peninsula: surf beach, ocean pools, then the sheltered waters of Port Hacking. Leave the meal flexible so the coast sets the pace.
Start without a car
Arrive at Cronulla station and walk towards Cronulla Beach. Use the public Esplanade southwards; NOA is a separate meal stop north of this walking route.
Your route, at your pace
Start by the beach and ocean pools. Continue south towards Shelly Park, stopping for a picnic or a rest rather than treating the walk as a race.
For a longer outing, continue towards Salmon Haul and Hungry Point Cliff Top Walk. The suspended boardwalk has a viewing platform; continuing towards Darook Park involves steps and a street connection.
Return towards the town centre. For a booked meal, check NOA or little noa at 8–18 Kingsway. Their opening sessions differ; a sea-view meal is optional.
Getting home
Return to Cronulla station. The full Hungry Point extension adds walking in both directions; turn back earlier if you prefer a shorter outing.
What you pay for
Public coastal walking plus your train fare. Food and drinks are separate; check the current venue menu rather than assuming a fixed meal price.
Walking & access
The complete extension includes steps and slopes. The accessible viewing platform does not make the whole circuit step-free.
If the weather turns
In strong wind or heavy rain, shorten the exposed section and choose a confirmed indoor meal instead.
A little discovery mission
Photograph three different coastlines: surf, an ocean pool and Port Hacking. Keep clear of pool users and stay on the public path.
