Police have charged a man for allegedly driving dangerously while drunk and crashing into the same vehicle twice on the Gold Coast yesterday afternoon, 4 November.

It will be alleged that around 5.10pm, the man was driving a Toyota Hilux when it collided with another Hilux at exit 60 northbound off-ramp from the Pacific Motorway.

It will be further alleged the man fled the scene of the crash in his vehicle, before returning and crashing into the same Hilux a second time.

Police were notified and tracked the man to Helensvale, where he was arrested.

The man then allegedly failed to supply a specimen of breath for analysis.

No-one was physically injured in the crashes.

The 49-year-old Helensvale man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle and adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, in charge under the influence of liquor, and failing to provide specimen breath for analysis on requirement.

He is scheduled to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on 18 November.

Investigations are ongoing.
