Who can join
Chat is for adults aged 18 or older who sign in with a Google account and accept these rules. Google sign-in confirms control of an account, not legal identity, age or good intentions. Choose a nickname; your Google email and account name are not listed to other members.
Account information
Google Firebase authenticates your account. Our server checks your authentication token and verified email status, and uses a stable account identifier for your chat membership. We store your nickname, chat handle, consent time and account activity. We do not store your Google password or use your Google account for Gmail access. Authentication uses a secure session cookie and Firebase browser storage. Sign out on shared devices.
Private and group conversations
Private rooms hold up to two members and group rooms up to 20. Invitation codes expire after seven days. Members can read messages sent after they joined. Online visibility and offline member discovery are optional and off by default. A green dot shows recent activity, not guaranteed availability. Message requests require acceptance before a private conversation begins.
Profiles and photos
Optional profiles include nickname, gender, age, area and up to three photos. These details are self-reported. Profiles are available to members who share a room, or to eligible members when you enable offline discovery. They are not public. Blocking, suspension and room membership are checked on every photo request. Other members may save or screenshot content they can see.
Safety and providers
No scams, harassment, threats, exploitation, hate, advertising or spam. Room titles, messages, profile text and photos are screened for safety through OpenAI; Google login tokens and email addresses are not included in screening requests. Failed checks prevent delivery. Google and hosting providers apply their own privacy practices and may process information outside Australia. Messages and photos are encrypted in storage, but this service is not end-to-end encrypted.
Replies, reactions and important messages
Replies show the original message for context. Reactions and important-message pins are shared with eligible participants in the same conversation. Group pins are managed by the room creator; either person can manage pins in a private conversation. Pins do not extend the normal 90-day message retention, and blocked or hidden originals are not shown in quoted replies or pins.
Free text translation
Free translation runs locally in your browser after you enable it. Language preferences and downloaded model files may stay in browser storage; translated message text stays in this tab memory and is cleared on sign-out or page close. Original messages retain the normal chat retention period. Existing automated safety screening still applies separately.
Translations run on this device, without a paid translation API or monthly character quota. Some browsers need a model download of about 650 MB. Use Wi-Fi; mobile data charges and device limits still apply.
Your chat text is not sent to a translation provider. Public model files come from Hugging Face and jsDelivr, which receive normal download connection information. Translations can be wrong; check the original.
Private voice calls
Voice calls are optional and limited to a private room for two. Both people must keep this page open, allow microphone access and accept the call. You can mute, decline or end a call. Closing the page releases the microphone. Calls last at most two hours.
Call audio travels directly between browsers using WebRTC encryption. This site does not record, store or send call audio for automated screening. The other participant receives connection and IP information. Cloudflare STUN helps discover connection addresses and receives network requests, not call audio. Some networks cannot connect without a relay; no relay service is currently configured.
The server temporarily stores encrypted call setup data. Connection data is cleared when a call ends, and expired call records are removed during routine cleanup. Blocking, suspension or leaving a room stops voice access on the next connection check.
Report, block and leave
You can report a message, block a member or leave a room. Room creators can remove participants or close rooms. The operator can hide messages and suspend accounts. This is not an emergency service.
Retention and existing accounts
Ordinary messages are retained for up to 90 days. Profile details and photos are cleared after 90 days of inactivity when cleanup runs, except for relevant reports or documented preservation requests. Google sign-in does not automatically grant access to an old ChatGPT chat account. Contact the operator if you need help recovering an existing account. Previously collected phone records remain subject to the earlier retention policy and are cleared after 90 days of inactivity unless preservation applies. New Google-only accounts do not collect a phone number.
