Use the city as a base when your planned movements fit it. Start with the street address, not a broad label such as central Sydney. For a short visit, the walk between transport and accommodation can be as important as the number of stops on a train.
Match the station to the front door
Enter the destination into the official Trip Planner and read the walking leg. Different city stations can be useful for different entrances. If lifts, step-free access or luggage matter, check those requirements directly rather than assuming every city approach is interchangeable.
Keep one indoor option ready
The Australian Museum route in our planner starts near Museum station, uses the general collections and includes a food break. It is a different start point from the harbour options. Compare the travel to that start before switching the day because of rain.
Use the correct airport comparison
If you are considering the airport taxi trial, verify that the exact destination is inside the designated zone. A city-sounding hotel name is not the zone check. The tool also needs the actual train fare and any permitted vehicle extras, with the airport access fee counted once.
Choose a room using the total booking amount and required room count. The trip budget gives you a way to compare that cost with the transport and food allowances you intend to use. This guide makes no live hotel-price or availability claim.
